Lotus Notes and Domino R6.0.2
Lotus software announces the availability of release 6.0.2, the second maintenance release of the IBM Lotus Notes and Domino 6 family of products. Release 6.0.2 includes a set of new features and enhancements, including Lotus Domino Toolkit 1.0 for IBM WebSphere Studio, numerous enhancements to IBM Lotus Domino Web Access (iNotes), as well as important changes to Domino Access for Microsoft Outlook. Lotus Domino Toolkit 1.0 for IBM WebSphere Studio The Lotus Domino Toolkit 1.0 is designed to assist developers in using Lotus Domino 6 custom Java Server Page tags. Using the toolkit, major parts of an existing Lotus Domino application, for example, forms, views and agents, are exposed in the IBM WebSphere Studio development tool, and can be reused as a starting point for a new Java Server Page running on WebSphere. IBM Lotus Domino Web Access (iNotes) Domino Web Access 6.0.2 provides an updated user interface that builds upon the intuitive design of the previous releases. Many new features have been added along with a new user interface with the goal of giving users an experience similar to that of familiar installed applications. The result is that now Lotus Domino Web Access delivers many functions within a browser that were previously offered only in the Lotus Notes client. Jill Jones, Technical Offering Manager for Domino Web Access and the Notes client, is excited about the advancements in the code. "Our customers will see real value in the new features we've included. End users will love the additional capabilities included in 6.0.2, especially the enhanced navigation and the advancements in calendaring and scheduling. Also, the new context-sensitive help functionality will likely result in less calls to the help desk. I expect customers will see dramatic increases in user productivity." Some highlights of the new features and functionality include: enhanced navigation, advanced features for flexibility and customization, improved editing features, expanded drag and drop functionality, Lotus Domino Web Access as default mail client, new calendaring and scheduling features for Lotus Domino Web Access, and direct online meeting scheduling in Lotus Domino Web Access Domino Access for Microsoft Outlook 6.0.2 marks a key milestone in the process of re-architecting the Domino Access for Microsoft Outlook solution. Customers will see key new features and functionality in this release that are part of the seamless transition to a more standards based architecture supporting IMAP, SMTP, and iCalendar |
